"Ezra" (2007--Nigeria)

This is a gripping story of Ezra, a young boy who is abducted by a rebel militia group on his way to school. There, he becomes a revolutionary soldier fighting against a corrupt government. Under the control of a fearsome commander of the rebel (who operates under the name of “the brotherhood”), Ezra is joined by other young compatriots who are forced to commit war crimes against anyone who supports the government. Drugged with powerful narcotics, their gruesome acts would include cutting the arms and legs of villagers so that they would not vote for the government. Seven years later Ezra stands trial for the murder of his own parents and other villagers during the terrorism he took part in.

Tsotsi"Tsotsi" (2005)

Tsotsi is set in Soweto, one of South Africa's notoriously crime-ridden townships just outside of Johannesburg. Tsotsi (which means "thug" in township patois) is the name of the central character, an orphan, played by Presley Chweneyagae. He's a troubled teenager who steals a car and inadvertently ends up having to look after the young baby that was still in it.
